Increasingly, we are told that technology will fulfil all of our desires. There is one thing, however, that it will never provide and that these days seems harder and harder to find...
The joy we derive from the company of others.
The good news is that technological solutions are not required for the simple pleasures of creativity and play. And, for those who want support with any aspect of their tabletop gaming hobby, we are here.
In the Scottish Borders, we are blessed with some of the most beautiful countryside in the world. Sports and outdoor pursuits can be a wonderful way to bring people together. Maybe, sometimes, that means we don't give enough thought to activities for folk who can't (or prefer not to) get out in the wide open spaces or what we might do when the weather makes those spaces a little hostile.
Don't sit in your room alone! Don't stare at a screen!
Let's get some folk together and play a game!
Heroes of Gamenight CIC has the expertise and the passion to make your tabletop gaming experience a success. If you want to enjoy an evening of trying out new boardgames with friends or family, we can help. If you're entertaining, or running an away day, and want an activity that encourages interaction, we can help. If you're looking for a regular activity for a club or school group, we can help.
While we usually charge for our services, we believe that healthy community is a fundamental good worth promoting for its own sake. We also know that an essential part of building any community is face-to-face interactions with others; meeting people, teaching and learning, forming friendships, accomplishing goals and having fun together.
As a Community Interest Company we work to combat the social ills that can arise from rural isolation and economic deprivation. In order to accomplish this, we foster and support communities of tabletop gamers across the Scottish Borders. We want to provide safe, welcoming spaces where people can enjoy getting together without screens or other distractions and have a good time. Wherever we can, we make entry free (we welcome donations!) and we provide a healthy buffet.
Our board of directors is comprised of members experienced in youth work, as well as young people who have volunteered for us and then become directors themselves. We have seen that participation in our sessions provides the opportunity for essential social connection and skills development, as well as promoting mental wellbeing, creativity and emotional resilience.
